National Postal Museum Exhibits Ayn Rand Portrait

The National Postal Museum is hosting “Art of the Stamp”—an exhibition of 101 works of art that served as the basis for famous postage stamps issued by the U. S. Postal Service. One of the works on display is Nick Gaetano’s portrait of Ayn Rand against a background of skyscrapers, commissioned for a postage stamp issued several years ago. “Art of the Stamp” opens July 30 and runs through February 2004 at the National Postal Museum, 2 Massachusetts Ave. NW, Washington, D. C., across from Union Station.

The museum, a branch of the Smithsonian Institution, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Admission is free. For information, call 202-357-2991; or visit the Web site at www.postalmuseum.si.edu.
